| S1 Eye-Tracker: Web Usability |
|
The S1 helps to reveal usability problems that would otherwise remain undiscovered.
If you're testing websites using screencasting software, and asking participants to "think aloud", you are still missing key data: where they're actually looking. When a user is lost, confused, or frustrated, they often fall silent as their cognitive load is already high. When asked to recollect what they were doing while they were silent, there will be omissions. The data stream has stopped. With the S1, however, you still know what was going on because you always know exactly where they were looking. This invaluable information can be provided to clients or used to improve the targeted website. The S1 tracking the eyes of a user searching for and then browsing a news website. The red circles are the point of gaze, with the circle's size indicating the length of the fixation. The green circle is the mouse.
