Eye Tracking with a Hockey Sports Video
The Mirametrix S2 Eye Tracker works very well for eye tracking on video content. Here’s an example from a hockey video showing highlights from Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Vancouver Canucks and Boston Bruins. The video is a highlight reel from television where Raffi Torres is scoring a goal against Tim Thomas.
It’s interesting to see how the subject’s eyes quickly pick up the puck and follow it directly into the net. Not surprisingly, the eye tracker shows that the test subject also focuses a lot on people’s faces.
Eye tracking on videos is used extensively in market research for advertising and television shows. For example, it can be used to understand how to most effectively do product placement for television or movies. It’s also used in game design to understand what people are looking at, and how they’re interacting.
