Eye Tracking for Web Usability
There are many ways of assessing the usability of your web application or web site. But eye tracking is one of the most effective and accurate — the eyes don’t lie! Eye tracking determines intent, and identifies problems areas with your website that no other usability testing can get to easily.
This is a short video demonstrating eye tracking for navigating a web site and reading an article online. The eye-gaze position is shown in red, the mouse position in green, left mouse clicks in blue and right mouse clicks in yellow. The size of the red circle is proportional to the duration of the fixation (stable point-of-gaze). Fixations are connected by a red line (saccades or quick jumps of the eyes).
For e-commerce sites, eye tracking is particularly useful. Eliminating confusing areas of your web site will streamline a consumer’s purchasing process and drive more revenue.
